In 1606, Samuel de Champlain started the Order of Good Cheer social club at the Habitation, the site of the first attempt at a permanent European settlement in the new world. Now a National Historic Site, Port-Royal is pleased to offer visitors the chance to learn more about the Order of Good Cheer and to also be a highlight of Canada’s first winery, craft brewery and distillery trail, that celebrates our long tradition of hospitality and pride for the bounty of Nova Scotia. Starting May 2017, visitors can pick up their Taste of Nova Scotia Good Cheer Trail Passport at the site and start touring!
