Parks Canada’s environmental assessment program supports stewardship of the national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas administered by the Parks Canada Agency. The environmental assessment program encompasses a number of legislated and policy-based processes that help achieve our mandate to protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. The different types of environmental assessment applied by Parks Canada include.
- Strategic environmental assessment of policy, plan and program proposals
- Project-level environmental assessment
The focus of Parks Canada’s environmental assessment activities is on evaluating potential adverse effects to the natural and cultural resources we protect, and to the visitor experience opportunities we offer.
