Experience the north
Northern engagement and outreach team member
Are you a highly motivated team-player with an interest in Canada’s Arctic and excellent communication skills to deliver dynamic engagement and public outreach programs in Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver in the summer of 2017?
Are you interested in working with other team members, engagement and outreach representatives and engaging audiences by:
- Developing effective interpretive programs and presentations about Northern experiences and places, for delivery at urban events and at Parks Canada’s partners’ venues (e.g. science centres, zoos, aquariums, museums).
- Creating and contributing content to support Parks Canada’s promotions and social media engagement campaigns.
- Supporting projects, events and initiatives for a variety of Parks Canada places.
To support this work, the successful applicants will participate in a two week educational expedition to the Canadian Arctic and Greenland with Students on Ice.
Northern Engagement and Outreach Team Members will engage Canadians and visitors with inspiring and educational presentations and activities that highlight Parks Canada’s protected areas in Northern Canada. Programs will focus on connecting diverse urban audiences, through interactive learning, to raise awareness and stimulate interest in northern Canada’s national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites, wildlife, geography, culture and history. The stories and information you provide will bring Parks Canada experiences to Canadians in urban areas; inspiring them and encouraging them to learn more.
Students will work for approximately 17 weeks from early-May to end of August, 2017 from Montreal, Ottawa or Vancouver and will participate in the Students on Ice Arctic Expedition. Positions require students to work variable hours, shift-work, work on weekends and holidays, as well as work in a range of weather conditions.
The application process is open from October 16th until October 23rd 11:59 p.m.
Meet the 2017 Northern Engagement and Outreach Team Members.
