Thirty-five designations occurred in 2009-2011, for a total of 2,021 places, persons and events of national historic significance as of March 31, 2011. This total consists of 648 national historic persons, 417 national historic events, and 956 national historic sites, 167 of which are administered by Parks Canada (please consult the accompanying text for a listing of these national historic sites broken down by province).
