Entrepreneur and industrialist, Joseph-Armand Bombardier invented the snowmobile which ended winter isolation in rural areas of Canada and around the world. This remarkable visionary fulfilled his dream of creating and marketing a vehicle capable of travelling on snow. Both the snowmobile and the smaller Ski-doo, which he patented in 1937 and 1960 respectively, were conceived and manufactured here in Valcourt where Bombardier was born. After his death, the business he founded became a world leader in the transportation industry.
