National Program for the Grave Sites of Canadian Prime Ministers
In 1999 the Government of Canada created the National Program for the Grave Sites of Canadian Prime Ministers to ensure the conservation and awareness, in dignity and respect, of the grave sites of our deceased prime ministers whose public careers have had a profound impact on the history of our country.
The program includes the preparation of comprehensive conservation plans for each grave site, the installation of a Canadian flag and a grave site awareness panel, and the organization of a ceremony in honour of each deceased prime minister. In addition, online content highlights the location and image of the former prime ministers' grave sites.
