Time to “Xplore”
Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites
Upcoming area closures of Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites in 2024.
For restoration purposes and/or safety reasons, these closures will be clearly marked, and signage will be posted. Currently, these are:
- oTENTik camping experience is unavailable for the 2024 season.
- The washrooms located at the Second World War Officer’s Quarters are closed. Portable toilets inclusive of a wheelchair-accessible unit are available nearby.
- The Causeway leading to the lighthouse, Fisgard Lighthouse, and adjacent beaches – Closure begins on September 26, 2024, and will remain in effect until all repair work is completed.

Visiting Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites will be different than previous years. Be prepared, and know what is open and closed before you go.
Hey kids, want to become a Parks Canada Xplorer? Join the fun at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites. Pickup an Xplorers booklet and participate in hands-on activities created just for you.
It’s new, and other national parks and national historic sites all across Canada have an Xplorers program specific to their special place.
Here at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites, you can get your booklet at the main entrance kiosk or from one our interpreters at the World War II hut. Choose four of the five activities, and ask your parents to play along as you have fun exploring the site. The activities will give you a real sense of discovery, and are a lot of fun. Bring your completed booklet back to one of the places mentioned above and receive your official Parks Canada Xplorers certificate and a special souvenir.
Don’t forget to tell your friends. They’ll probably want to come with you!
