Fort St. James National Historic Site
Located 160 km (100 mi) northwest of Prince George, Fort St. James sits on the southern shores of Stuart Lake, between the Nak’azdli First Nations Reserve and the business district of Fort St. James municipality. Allow at least a half day to tour the fur trade compound, Visitor Centre and interpretive gallery. Picnic by the lake, enjoy a meal at the Home Stretch Diner or camp under the stars at the site.

By car
From Prince George
Follow Highway 16 West and just past Vanderhoof turn right on Highway 27 to Fort St James (a 45 minute drive) then turn left on Kwah Road and enter the parking lot. Fort St. James National Historic Site is situated 164 kilometres northwest of Prince George, B.C.
From Prince Rupert
Follow Highway 16 East and just before Vanderhoof turn left on Highway 27 to Fort St. James (a 45-minute drive) then turn left on Kwah Road and enter the parking lot.
Free admission for youth 17 and under. Other fees still apply.

- The Trade Store, Fur Warehouse, Guest House and Murray’s House are all hosted by friendly costumed interpreters.
