St. Andrews Blockhouse National Historic Site

Restoration work was first done on the Blockhouse in the late 1960s, a few years after it had become a national historic site. This work restored the Blockhouse to its original appearance.

In the summer of 1993, a disastrous fire almost destroyed the building. The entire roof, both floors, the inner walls, and much of the outer shingling were severely damaged.

The community's citizens and Parks Canada worked together to restore and refurnish St. Andrews Blockhouse to what visitors see today.
