Ryan Premises National Historic Site

The Ryan Premises is located in Bonavista, Newfoundland and Labrador, approximately 300 km – a 3.5-hour drive - from the provincial capital of St. John's.

Exhibits and displays are open June to October though it is possible to stroll the grounds year round. Plan at least a half day to visit the exhibits and take part in hands-on demonstrations, leaving extra time to stroll the town, harbor, and wharf.

By air
St. John’s International Airport (YYT) serves the east coast of Newfoundland. Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, Provincial Airlines, and Air Labrador are the major airlines offering a variety of flights to St. John’s.

By ferry
Marine Atlantic operates car/passenger ferries year-round between North Sydney, Nova Scotia, and Port aux Basques on Newfoundland’s southwest coast. Ferry service between North Sydney and Argentia, on Newfoundland’s east coast, is offered from mid-June to late September. The crossing time from North Sydney to Port aux Basques is approximately 6 hours, and 11 hours from North Sydney to Argentia.

By car
Starting at St. John's, follow the TransCanada Highway west to Clarenville. At Clarenville, take route 230, the Discovery Trail, to the Town of Bonavista, then follow the signs. As an alternate route, take route 230 from Clarenville, turn onto route 235 at Southern Bay and follow route 235 straight to the Ryan Premises.
