Fort Malden National Historic Site

Site programs

Fort Malden has special events and activities throughout the year. 

Interpretive and visitor orientation centres

At the Visitor Orientation Centre you can talk to an interpreter and see a video of the site's history. The Garrison Gift Shop is located at the visitor orientation centre.

The museum houses the fort's exhibits. These include displays on the War of 1812, the Upper Canada Rebellion, the British Indian Department and the King's Navy Yard in Amherstburg.

Outreach and education

Fort Malden offers a variety of educational programs designed for school groups. Special requests can be also be accommodated.

Parking

Ample car and bus parking is available at no charge. There is designated parking for visitors with disabilities.

Washrooms

Washrooms are available at the Visitor Orientation Centre and at the Interpretation Centre. All washrooms at Fort Malden are wheelchair accessible.

Local community services

In addition to the fort's services, modern conveniences, services and facilities are available in the town of Amherstburg. Amherstburg's historic character is reflected in the numerous cultural institutions located in or near the town.
