Public Services and Procurement Canada’s (PSPC) LaSalle Causeway Bridge
Rideau Canal National Historic Site
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) has informed Parks Canada that the main navigation channel of the LaSalle Causeway Bridge will be closed from September 19 to October 14, 2024, for the installation of a temporary modular bridge.
The main navigation channel is scheduled to reopen on:
- October 15, 2024, from 12 pm to 9 pm ET
- November 16, 2024, from 12 pm to 9 pm ET
During the closure of the main navigation channel of the LaSalle Causeway, navigation will only be available through the east fixed bridge for vessels meeting clearance requirements. Boaters can check the actual clearance under the east fixed bridge by researching Lake Ontario water levels for Kingston at: https://lre-wm.usace.army.mil/reports/greatLakes/greatLakesLevelsThisMonth/greatLakesLevelsThisMonth.html.
Parks Canada would like to remind boaters that the Rideau Canal’s regular navigation season also ends on October 14.
Navigation Schedule for 2025
PSPC will begin consultations with various stakeholders to determine the frequency and schedule of marine access periods. These periods will be for the 2025 navigation season and beyond, including the intent to allow access in early May 2025, for the start of the marine season. The temporary modular bridge will remain until the construction of a permanent replacement bridge is complete.
Unable to pass through LaSalle Causeway before September 19?
Boaters unable to pass through the LaSalle Causeway before September 19 have the option to moor at the bottom side of Kingston Mills free of charge on October 14 and pass through the Causeway on October 15 during the planned opening. Please refer to PSPC's public notices and social media channels for more information:
