Edmonds Weir repairs

May 16, 2019 – The third and final phase of construction on Edmonds Lock, Dam and Weir is now drawing to a close. Work at Edmonds Lockstation is part of Parks Canada’s unprecedented $3 billion dollar investment into infrastructure across Canada and has extended the life of these important waterway assets for generations to come.

Over the past three years, heritage stone masonry rehabilitation to the lock, overflow dam, and weir has been completed. This has involved grouting, repointing, and stone replacement on each asset. Additionally, the retaining wall was replaced, the roadway access along the earth dam improved and public safety enhancements installed. Work was completed over the fall and winter seasons to allow residents and visitors to continue to enjoy the lock in the summer.

Visitors to the site will notice landscaping underway in preparation for the 2019 navigation season. Seed is being laid in areas where sod cannot be installed. We respectfully ask that you tread lightly in these areas.
