Battle of the Windmill National Historic Site
Visit a windswept hill, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, where a red-roofed stone windmill was the scene of a bloody turning point in Canadian history. From the grounds of the Battle of the Windmill National Historic Site, gaze at the waves and imagine the boats of an invading force of American ‘Hunters’ sailing across the river to do battle with British soldiers and local militia in the fight for Upper Canada.
