Lachine Canal National Historic Site
Parks Canada has announced an investment of $170 million until 2021 for the Lachine Canal National Historic Site to upgrade its facilities and thus enhance the overall experience of more than a million people who visit the site annually.
In parallel to this major work, sites related to external projects affect the infrastructure of the Lachine Canal as well as its users. On this page, you will find information related to the work that has an impact on users of the path and the banks.

Rehabilitation of spans 2 to 4 under the CN-Wellington Bridge
Period and duration: from October 23, 2023 to July 2025

Notice to users: Presence of flagmen to ensure user safety on the path. Occasional temporary closures, mainly at night. Please respect the signage in place.

Le Sud-Ouest Borough - Charlevoix and des Seigneurs Bridges
Decreasing of the allowed weight limits
Period and duration: As of January 2020 for an indefinite period
Notice to users: For the Charlevoix Bridge that crosses the canal at the level of Charlevoix Street, the new load capacity is now 22 tons, 34 tons and 44 tons respectively for vehicles of one unit, two units and three units. For the des Seigneurs Bridge that crosses the canal at the level of des Seigneurs Street, the new load capacity is now 26 tons, 36 tons and 48 tons respectively for vehicles of one unit, two units and three units. Vehicles whose weight exceeds the stated limits are invited to use an alternative route.
