The eastern extremity of the battlefield

The Baker farm, located at the junction of the Châteauguay and Des Anglais rivers, was the final defensive position of the British forces and allowed them to control movements on the Des Anglais River.

It is said that several farms similar to the Baker’s suffered the effects of the military presence: houses and furnishings damaged, animals, tools, and agricultural equipment left exposed to the weather.

When hundreds of soldiers settled in a farm field, the crop was usually destroyed. They didn’t hesitate to use the farmer’s tools (saws, axes, and hammers) to set up their camp and then “forget” to return them to their owner.

Today, this property retains a piece of our collective memory.
