School program - Secondary

Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site

Here are the school program activities offered at the Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site for high school students.

Costume workshop

What do British soldiers do 12 to 30 times per year?

Through an interactive quiz on the lives of French and British soldiers, your students will learn about the working conditions, the dress code of the 18th and 19th centuries, the social realities and the beliefs and values of the time. An exciting competition awaits you!

In a period building, students will be introduced to Québec City’s major military events. They will then be split into two groups, representing the French and the English. Students will test their knowledge in a question and answer game. Each correct answer wins its team a piece of historical clothing. The grand winner will be the team that manages to fully dress one of its members in period costume.
