Manoir Papineau National Historic Site
Manoir Papineau National Historic Site is located on a vast, wooded site punctuated by trails. Given their historic nature, some of the buildings on the estate are partially accessible to people with reduced mobility or disabilities.
Accessible facilities
Accessible facilities are designed to eliminate barriers and encourage full participation of persons with limited physical abilities. Manoir Papineau National Historic Site offers some accessible and adapted services for people with reduced mobility or disabilities.
Manoir
- The rear entrance to the manor has a door with a rather high exterior threshold, providing access to the first floor of the building only. You will find a collection of albums full of old photographs, the gift shop and the washroom. The front entrance has several steps to climb and is not accessible.
- Please note: the door to the toilet is narrow.
- Inside the house, six steps lead up to the second floor. The entire tour takes place on this single-level second floor.
- There is no elevator to get from one floor to another.
Other buildings
- There are steps to climb to enter the Orangery, and the floor is bumpy and made of stone.
- The entrance to the Family Museum has no steps. The space is vast and bright, with a single floor and several chairs for resting.
- There are several steps to climb to enter the Granary, and a staircase to climb to reach the studio on the second floor.
Parking lot
- If needed, it is possible to get to the manor by a shuttle or to park near the manor. Call the team at 819 423-6965.
Trails
- The stately alley and the path along the gardens are of stone dust.
- The picnic area is grass.
Accompaniment
Access is free for the companion accompanying the person with a disability at Manoir Papineau National Historic Site. For the free access, the person with a disability must present, for each visit, a valid card from a recognized association or institution.
Service Animals
Service animals are permitted everywhere in Manoir Papineau National Historic Site. They must be clearly identified and be kept on a leash or wear a harness at all times.
