In 1876, Wilfrid Laurier commissioned the building of a Victorian-style residence. Following is death, the house was bequeathed in 1921 to their niece, Pauline Laurier. In 1928, she sold it to two Westmount businessmen, Mr. Cameron and Mr. Timmins. They immediately ceded the house to the Quebec Government on condition that a museum dedicated to the memory of Sir Wilfrid Laurier would be established in it. The Laurier Museum opened its doors in May 1929. Despite its respectable age, it was only just recently that the personal residence of the Prime Minister of Canada was classified as a historical monument in Quebec (1989) and a national historic site of Canada (2000). In 1997, the location that became the property of the Société du Musée Laurier, continues the tradition of the temporary and permanent exhibitions. The Laurier Museum is partnered with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier National Historic Site in the dissemination of this man's history.

The Société Historique de Saint-Lin (French only) is responsible for the conservation and development of historic and heritage properties, the safeguarding of representative architectural structures and the promotion and maintenance of built heritage. It develops pride in the heritage acquired from prior generations in order to engender respectful behaviour. It ensures the preservation and dissemination of Saint-Linois' heritage and recounts and enhances awareness and familiarity with its history. Activities are organized jointly with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier National Historic Site, including the Canada Day celebration on July 1st.
