Indigenous Connections
Batoche National Historic Site
As the First Peoples of Canada, First Nations, Métis and Inuit have sacred places of great cultural and spiritual importance across this land. Parks Canada is proud to collaborate with Indigenous partners and communities to protect many of these special places and share their stories.
Batoche National Historic Site has operated through shared management with the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan for more than 20 years. The site has established successful partnerships with community organizations such as with the Gabriel Dumont Institute, the Friends of Batoche, the River Women Collective, and One Arrow First Nation. It is through these partnerships that allow Parks Canada to deliver cultural programming, events, and fun and learning opportunities to families, school groups, and visitors from across Canada.
