Fort Battleford National Historic Site

Let our knowledgeable staff help you meet your curriculum requirements by sharing the history of Fort Battleford and the Conflict of 1885 with your students through dynamic tours and hands-on activities. We have a variety of workshops available to enhance your experience.

Guided Tour – Option 1

Join a Parks Canada interpreter for a guided tour of Fort Battleford. Learn about the role of the Fort, and the events, misunderstandings, fear, and broken promises that led to the Conflict of 1885.

Educational Workshops

Choose one or multiple workshop options to enhance your school program experience.

Many Voices – Explore the events of 1885 through multiple perspectives.
Drill – Discover what it was like to be a member of the North-West Mounted Police. Learn the precision and skill of drill marching.
Build a tipi – Join an interpreter and work as a team to build a mini tipi.

  • Date (Select your top 2 preferences)
  • Language: Request service in English, French, or a mixture of both official languages.
  • Special needs: Is there anything we need to be aware of to ensure a smooth visit for your group?
