AREA CLOSURE: Lake Louise Community Fire Guard

LAKE LOUISE COMMUNITY FIREGUARD
WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:
WHERE: The entire length of the Great Divide Trail extending from Lake Louise Drive to the Lake O’Hara parking lot access road as well as any winter recreation trail that intersects with the Great Divide Trail or the project area including Upper and Lower Telemark, Peyto, Loop C, Laggan’s Loop, the horse trail to Lake Agnes and sections of the Ross Lake Trail. It also includes the forested slope directly behind the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise extending north-east towards the Bow River. Please refer to the closure map for a graphic description of the area.
WHY: To ensure public safety during Wildfire Risk Reduction activities. Equipment and crews are operating in the area creating safety hazards including tree felling, increased traffic, and smoke.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act - maximum penalty $25 000.
