Dan has 25 years of experience managing research, driving innovation, and fostering collaboration in and among industry, government, academia and civil society. He was CEO of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, was Executive Director of the Canadian Forest Innovation Council, and has been a senior manager at Environment and Climate Change Canada and Natural Resources Canada. He was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Montana, and has a PhD in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Montana, a M.Sc. in Toxicology from the University of Calgary, and a BSc. in Ecology from the University of Guelph. He is currently co-chair of Canada’s Net-zero Advisory Body. His initial career was football as a linebacker for the Calgary Stampeders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Emily Grisé is an Assistant Professor in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Alberta. She is a forward-thinking transport researcher with specializations in the areas of transport & land use planning, customer satisfaction & loyalty with public transport, and public transport planning & operations. Her work has been in collaboration with several local and regional transport agencies to directly address issues of concern to key stakeholders, while she has also provided transport expertise in the private sector. The underlying goal of her research is to develop effective policies that contribute to a more livable and sustainable society. She looks forward to applying her expertise in travel behaviour and demand management to this Expert Panel.

Emily has lived and worked in several Canadian cities, and she currently resides in Edmonton, AB, where she frequently takes advantage of her proximity to the mountains.

Kerri Cahill is currently a branch chief for the National Park Service, Denver Service Center Planning Division. The Denver Service Center is a central office that provides agency wide technical and project management support.

Kerri leads a team of visitor use management and socioeconomic specialists that provide support to parks across the United States on planning needs related to visitor use management. She also chairs the Interagency Visitor Use Management Council that coordinates across six federal agencies to provide consistent guidance and tools for visitor use management. Kerri has helped develop national planning guidelines for the National Park Service related to the topics of visitor use management and visitor capacity. She has authored several publications on these topics.

Kerri holds a PhD in recreation management from Virginia Tech, a master's degree in planning from Florida State University, and an undergraduate degree in environmental policy from the University of Miami. During her 18 years with the National Park Service, Kerri has been able to work on a diverse array of projects in support of parks, regions, national programs, interagency initiatives, and international collaborations. She is honored to be part of Parks Canada’s expert panel for Banff National Park.

Born in the UK, Jamie now resides in Canmore, Alberta. Specializing in the world of Outdoor Adaptive Sports, Jamie was first exposed to the power of adaptive sport and recreation when teaching his sister how to ski. Following this, he worked his winters as a ski instructor in Europe and spent his summers working as a care worker for adults with intellectual and physical impairments. From that moment on he knew the direction his future was to take.

The winter season of 2001/02 saw Jamie come to Canada, where he has spent his time working for Sunshine Village as a ski instructor whilst developing and running the Sunshine Adaptive Ski and Ride Program. For 6 years he lived a continuous Winter spending the Summer months furthering his adaptive experience working for Disabled Snowsports, New Zealand.

His enthusiasm, passion and experience for adaptive sport and recreation lead him to Co-found Bow Valley based charity Rocky Mountain Adaptive, where he works today as Executive Director, developing the organization, promoting adaptive sport and recreation and working hands on with individuals with amazing abilities.

Jamie feels privilege to sit on this advisory panel, where he will bring his voice and experience in accessibility.

Jen Malzer was drawn to Alberta to live near the mountains and to work in sustainable transportation. For twenty years she has worked on multi modal projects, ranging from heavy truck emission modelling to public transit planning, to her current work focused on community-level active modes planning at The City of Calgary. Jen most enjoys contributing ideas and helping build communities of practice, serving as president of CITE (Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers) Canada’s community of transportation professionals from 2015-2017. In addition to her current work, Jen represents Canada on the ITE International Board, is the current co-chair of the Women of ITE subcommittee- a group looking to advance gender equity in transportation, sits on the Vélo Canada Bikes board.

At the City of Calgary, she is pioneering new approaches to traffic calming, like streets labs, and leads a monthly series for cross-corporate public servants at The City of Calgary’s Innovation Lab to ideate collaborative solutions to provide imagine and deliver better services to and for Calgarians.

Kelly has worked for the Town of Banff for 20 years and was promoted to CAO at the beginning of 2020. Prior to his work with the Town of Banff, he was Manager of Finance for the City of Portage la Prairie in Manitoba.

Kelly has spent his entire career in public service and as a CPA has a strong base in finance and financial planning. Gibson was involved in the formation of the Bow Valley Regional Transit Service Commission and was the Town of Banff’s administrative representative on the initial board of directors. Originally from Manitoba, Gibson moved to Banff in 2001 to work for the municipality and he enjoys the mountain lifestyle. An avid skier and hiker, you’ll also find Gibson on the squash courts after work.

Leslie Bruce has led the team at Banff & Lake Louise Tourism for over six years as President & CEO, inspiring the world to experience Banff and Lake Louise. The organization is the primary driver of the tourism economy in Banff National Park and succeeds by working collaboratively with members and stakeholders. With almost twenty years of experience in the travel industry, Leslie has a track record of strong leadership, sustainable growth, and innovative use of technology to deliver results. Before joining Banff & Lake Louise Tourism, Leslie launched the Canadian division of Spafinder Wellness 365 adapting the brand and web platform to serve Canadian consumers. Prior to this she honed her strategic sales and marketing skills in over 90 source markets as a member of the executive teams of TUI Education NA and Quark Expeditions, TUI’s polar cruising brand (both part of TUI Travel Group); and as Chief Operating Officer for Butterfield & Robinson.

Leslie attended Queen’s University and completed her B.Sc. (Biology)/B.P.H.E and an M.Sc. (Exercise Physiology). Moving to the Canadian Rockies has afforded her the opportunity to continue pursuing her passions of skiing and cycling, and to discover many more reasons to love the outdoors.

Selby has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation from the University of South Florida. He has over 19 years of experience across North America in both the public and private sectors, and is a registered professional engineer. He has been involved in numerous transportation planning and engineering projects throughout his career. These include several projects in Banff National Park and the surrounding areas for the past 8 years.

Selby is passionate about adapting transportation systems to find viable, sustainable ways to improve mobility for all users of all ages and all abilities. He specializes in long-term transportation planning and parking management, developing sustainable transportation solutions - including smart mobility, technology and context-sensitive designs. Being part of the Banff National Park Expert Panel is a great opportunity to combine his professional expertise and personal commitments help enhance visitor experiences and preserve one of Canada’s national treasures for generations to come.
