Restricted Activity: Overnight mooring of watercraft

What:
Pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:
- No person shall moor a watercraft overnight other than in accordance with a permit issued by the Superintendent.
- A person camping at a waterfront campground may moor their watercraft if the following conditions are met:
- A valid camping permit applies to the mooring location and date;
- The campsite to which the permit applies is occupied; and
- The watercraft complies with all other regulations.
These restrictions do not apply to a superintendent, park warden, peace officer, or any other person authorized by the superintendent to carry out functions related to the management of a park while any of those persons is engaged in carrying out such functions.

Why:
The Superintendent has established these restrictions to:
- Clean up riparian areas;
- Protect aquatic wildlife and park visitors; and
- Restore aquatic ecosystems
Penalty:
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
