Management of noise, liquor, food, garbage and length of stay in public campgrounds
Campgrounds
Effective date
January 1 to December 31
What
Pursuant to section 13 of the National Parks of Canada Camping Regulations, the following activities are restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:
No person shall:
- Use a generator except during the hours of 0800 to 1000hrs and 1700hrs to 1900hrs.
- Use any radio, television, stereo, musical instrument or anything that causes excessive noise.
- Use, possess or consume any alcoholic beverages including liquor as defined in the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Act between 2300hrs to 0700hrs of the following day.
- Use, possess or consume cannabis or cannabis products between 2300hrs to 0700hrs of the following day.
- Leave any human food, pet food, or similar organic material out, except for such reasonable periods required for preparing and consuming a meal, or for clean-up immediately after. All human food, pet food or similar organic material shall be stored inside a completely sealed vehicle or camping unit that is constructed of solid, rigid material or stored in an approved bear-proof storage facility when provided.
- Leave any garbage unattended. All garbage must be deposited into a bear-proof garbage bin approved by the Superintendent.
- Leave any toiletries, wash basins, cooking stoves, pots or utensils unattended.
- Burn food scraps or garbage.
- Reside in a campground or stay longer than 14 days.
Where
The following campgrounds are affected by this notice: Whistlers, Wapiti, Snaring, Miette, Wabasso, Kerkeslin, Honeymoon Lake, Jonas, lcefields tent, Icefield Center RV, and Wilcox. This includes all drive in sites, walk in sites, shelters, roads and trails within Jasper National Park of Canada.
Why
To minimize the degree of noise and disturbance to campers, ensure equitable access, and enhance the safety and enjoyment of these public campgrounds in Jasper National Park.
Penalty
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000. Failure to comply may result in immediate cancellation of the camping permit, eviction from the campground and violators may be charged.
Camping fees will not be refunded.

Establishment of quiet hours and inspection in public campgrounds

What
Pursuant to section 14(a)ii of the National Parks of Canada Camping Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:
Hours between 2300hrs and 0700hrs of the following day shall be deemed “Quiet Hours”.
- Visitors are asked to return to their own sites if camping or to vacate the campground if not staying in the campground.
- No fires.
- No loud shouting or singing.
- No idling of vehicles.
- Radio, television, stereo, musical instrument or anything that causes excessive noise must be turned off.
- The use or consumption of any alcoholic beverages including liquor as defined in the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Act, is not permitted.
- Use or consumption of cannabis is not permitted.
Pursuant to section 14(g) of the National Parks of Canada Camping Regulations this notice also authorizes staff to inspect any campsite at any time.

The following campgrounds are affected by this Notice. Whistlers, Wapiti, Miette, Wabasso, Kerkeslin, Honeymoon Lake, Jonas, Icefield tent, Icefield Center RV, Snaring, Wilcox and Overflow.
This includes all areas within the campgrounds including all drive in sites, walk in sites, shelters, roads and trails within Jasper National Park of Canada.

Cannabis and alcohol use in campgrounds

What
Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activity is prohibited by order of the Superintendent:
Consuming alcohol, cannabis or cannabis products beyond the perimeter of your registered campsite.
Where
The following campgrounds are affected by this notice: Whistlers, Wapiti, Snaring River, Miette, Wabasso, Kerkeslin, Honeymoon Lake, Jonas, Icefields tent, Icefield Center RV, Wilcox and Overflow.
This includes all areas within the campgrounds including all drive in sites, walk in sites, shelters, roads and trails within Jasper National Park of Canada.
Why
To protect the public from second-hand smoke and to promote a quality visitor experience.
Penalty
Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25, 000.
