FIRE BAN: Redstreak Campground

Issued: July 12, 2024

WHAT:  Pursuant to section 3(1)(c) of the National Parks of Canada Fire Protection Regulations, the starting and/or maintaining of fires within Kootenay National Park of Canada is hereby PROHIBITED by order of the Superintendent, Kootenay National Park of Canada.

Use of the following items are prohibited during a fire ban:

· Wood burning campfire

· Charcoal, briquette, or woodbarbecues designed for cooking orheating

· Turkey fryers

· Tiki torches

· Outdoor wood burning stove including cooking shelters, twig fuelled camp stoves and pelletstoves

WHERE: This fire ban covers Redstreak Campground in Kootenay National Park.

WHY: For the prevention of wildfire during elevated Fire Danger conditions in Kootenay National Park.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
