BC FireSmart Committee

The BC FireSmart Committee (BCFSC) consists of eleven-member agencies, including Parks Canada. BCFSC's objective is to collaboratively maintain and improve the delivery of the BC FireSmart program. Parks Canada is proud to collaborate with the BCFSC members to better support wildfire preparedness, prevention and mitigation. Safety is always the top priority for Parks Canada in all fire management operations. Parks Canada works with provinces, territories, Indigenous and local communities to ensure appropriate wildfire readiness and response. We believe in sharing leadership and working with partners to achieve extraordinary results.

Camping & RVing BC Coalition

Camping and RVing BC is a coalition of partners that manage or represent over 1,700 campgrounds throughout British Columbia. The coalition provides planning information to help travellers locate RV rentals and unique campsites, make reservations, seek out attractions and find things to do. In addition to Camping and RVing at Parks Canada places throughout BC, the coalition includes provincial campgrounds (BC Parks), privately operated campgrounds and RV parks (including municipal campgrounds) and Recreation Sites and Trails BC (operated by the provincial government). British Columbia’s vast mountain ranges, miles of beaches, sparkling lakes, flowing rivers and lush, green forests offer the ultimate camping and RVing experience.

Canadian Wildlife Federation – Canadian Conservation Corps Program

The Canadian Conservation Corps (CCC) Program is funded by the Government of Canada, through the Canada Service Corps. This three-part program presents an exciting opportunity for young Canadians 18-30 years of age, to learn, grow and experience Canada in a unique way while having a real impact on conservation.

The program deeply engages young Canadians in our natural and cultural heritage through three modes of experiential learning: leadership training, Wilderness Adventure (a wilderness expedition), Service to the community through a conservation field work placement and Education outreach in their local community. Parks Canada is proud to participate in the field work component of the program with placements at locations throughout Vancouver Island.

Ocean Wise

Ocean Wise is a recognized leader in inspiring action to conserve our oceans. As a not-for-profit organization, Ocean Wise is dedicated to effecting the conservation of aquatic life. They do this through science-based storytelling, including education and public programming, as well as research and direct action.

Parks Canada is proud to collaborate with Ocean Wise. Together, we will develop programs that focus on increasing awareness of key species at risk in BC’s marine environments. One of these species is the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale.

Ocean Wise initiatives such as the BC Cetacean Sightings Network, The Whale Trail BC and Ocean Wise Sustainable Seafood, provide important platforms to engage Canadians in protecting BC’s marine environments. These Ocean Wise programs will be part of Parks Canada’s calls to action. Park visitors will be encouraged to report marine mammal sightings through the WhaleReport app and eat sustainable seafood. Visitors to Gulf Islands National Park Reserve can also enjoy shore-based whale watching along the Whale Trail BC at East Point on Saturna Island and Georgina Point on Mayne Island.

Science World

Science World is a not-for-profit organization that engages British Columbians in science and inspires future science and technology leadership throughout the province of British Columbia.

Parks Canada is proud to be collaborating with Science World in the delivery of our urban outreach program in Vancouver. Visitors to Science World can enjoy programs and activities that bring the stories of Canada’s national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas to the people of Vancouver.

Ucluelet Aquarium

The Ucluelet Aquarium Society operates the Ucluelet Aquarium and visitors can expect an up-close and personal encounter with a diversity of local marine life. Interpreters explain the mysteries of the sea, specimens are returned back to the wild, and the aquarium is unique in its design — part of the local marine ecosystem. Water from Ucluelet harbour flows directly through the tanks, allowing many animals to find their own way in and out of the displays.

Parks Canada is excited to collaborate with the Ucluelet Aquarium to create additional experiences for visitors. Once per week during the summer an Aquarium team member brings some of their collection to the K^wisitis Visitor Centre in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve to showcase the marine life of the area. As well, once per week during the summer a Parks Canada team member spends an afternoon offering interpretation at the Aquarium.
