Restricted Activity - Research

Research as a designated activity

WHAT: Pursuant to subsection 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the Superintendent of Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks hereby designates all natural, archaeological, or social science research as a “designated activity” requiring authorization in the form of a Research Permit.

WHERE: All areas within Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks.

NOTE: Research includes all scientific activities pertaining to natural, archaeological, or social science studies that involve fieldwork, collection of archeological and natural objects (or specimens), placement of trail cameras, traffic counters, or other electronic devices, and/or have the potential to disturb resources, visitors, residents or Parks Canada employees.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum penalty $25 000.
