AREA CLOSURE: Wildlife Crossing Structures

Sensitive Wildlife
WHAT: Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National
Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National
Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or
prohibited by order of the Superintendent:
Entering or travelling through a wildlife crossing
structure. A wildlife crossing structure is a feature
designed and constructed to enable safe and
effective movement of wildlife across barriers such
as roads or watercourse, reducing habitat
fragmentation and minimizing risk of wildlife-vehicle
collisions.
WHERE: All wildlife crossing structures along the
Trans-Canada Highway in Yoho National Park
between the west entry gate to Yoho and the
boundary with Banff National Park. Specific

547031 5699899, 546688 5699789, 545824
5699260. Refer to map.
WHY: To support the safe and undisturbed use of
crossing structures by wildlife.
PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the
Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty
$25 000.
