Kouchibouguac National Park hosts several guided stargazing events throughout the year, such as the Spring and Fall Star Fests. See our Special Events page for details.

Tips for stargazers

Kouchibouguac's premier stargazing spot is La Source, offering unspoiled surroundings and minimal light pollution.

Visitors who wish to observe the night sky at La Source later than 11 pm are asked to inform park staff by phone at 506-876-2443 or by email at kouchibouguac@pc.gc.ca.

To ensure an unforgettable stargazing experience, we recommend a few tips:

  1. Check the weather conditions before heading out to ensure clear skies.
  2. Dress warmly and bring blankets or comfortable seating for prolonged observation sessions.
  3. Consider using a red flashlight to preserve your night vision.
  4. Bring binoculars or a telescope to get a closer look at celestial objects.
  5. Plan your visit during new moon phases for optimal stargazing conditions.

Dark-sky preserve

Kouchibouguac National Park is designated as a Dark Sky Preserve, ensuring that the natural darkness of the night sky is preserved. This means you'll experience exceptionally clear and vibrant views of the stars.
