SUPERINTENDENT'S NOTICE: Conservation measures for soft-shell clam fishing

Pursuant to sections 7.6 (1), 20.1 and 35 (1) of the National Parks of Canada Fishing Regulations, the following conservation measures will apply within Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada from May 15th to September15th, 2024.

  • The daily catch and possession limit for soft- shelled clams is 75, and over 5 cm in overall length.
  • Fishing for soft-shelled clams is permitted within Kouchibouguac National Park except where waters are closed for scientific research or bacterial contamination (see attached map).
  • Use of a plunger for fishing clams is prohibited.

These measures are taken for the protection and the proper management of the soft-shell clam fishery.

Anyone found in violation of this notice may be prosecuted under Section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act.
