Trail Closure - Wallace Brook

Issued: August 21, 2024

Ends: August 21, 2025

Trail Closed - No Trespassing

WHAT: Pursuant to section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following trail is closed by order of the superintendent, Gros Morne National Park of Canada:

WHERE: Wallace Brook Trail from the suspension bridge to the mouth of the brook; Green Gardens Trail from Steve's Cove to the mouth of Wallace Brook; and the trail between Green Gardens Trail and Wallace Brook Trail. The area closed includes 30 m on either side of the trails.

WHY: Ongoing erosion has eliminated any safe hiking routes in these areas. The combination of steep terrain, eroded sections of trail, and damaged stairs and boardwalks have made these sections of trails hazardous. There is a greater risk of tripping and falling. Falling in the steep terrain or cliffs of this area puts you at risk of serious personal injury or property damage. The closed sections of trail are not cleared or maintained.

NOTE: Any contravention of this notice constitutes an offence under section 24(2) of the Canada National Parks Act. Failure to comply with that Act or, the applicable park regulations or this notice may be grounds for prosecution under the Canada National Parks Act.
