The Welcome Camp is located in the heart of the Lutsel K’e Dene homeland. It has been established to greet visitors in a traditional camp setting and give them a glimpse into the DenesǫŁine way of life that continues to be practiced today. At the camp you will be welcomed by Dene traditional knowledge holders as well as Parks Canada staff.

Please join us for some tea and bannock and visits around the campfire. You are encouraged to try your hand at whatever activities the camp attendants are currently engaged in, be it dryfish making, scraping a hide, making drymeat, or listening to Elders’ stories (just to name a few).

You will also be able to ask questions about the area, cultural history, and practices to be a respectful visitor.

The camp is located at Chëlaa Delk’os Ghe, near Portage Inlet and is operational during the month of July. For an exact destination please follow these coordinates (62.490707 -110.700080).

When heading to welcome camp in July don’t forget to register your trip before you depart. You can register here.
