Sirmilik National Park
Designation of hazardous activity and mandatory visitor registration

Pursuant to Subsection 6(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following activity has been designated as hazardous by the Field Unit Superintendent of Parks Canada, Nunavut Field Unit:
Entry into, use of and travel within Sirmilik National Park.
All park visitors are required to register in person at the Pond Inlet Park Office or with Nunavut Field Unit Staff prior to entering Sirmilik National Park, and to de-register in person or by telephone upon completion of their park visit.
Note: This does not apply to all persons exercising harvesting rights or engaging in traditional activities under the Nunavut Agreement.
Where: Sirmilik National Park
When: April 1 to March 31
Why: All access has been designated as a Hazardous Activity and visitors are required to register for the safety of those travelling within park boundaries.
Persons contravening this Superintendent’s Order may be subject to prosecution under the Canada National Parks Act; maximum fine $100,000.
