Recreational fishing

Whether from our beaches or from the Grande-Grave wharf, saltwater fishing is permitted. Mackerel and striped bass are the main species caught for consumption. In order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy fishing and to avoid wasting any fish, please follow Forillon National Park’s current regulations.

Catch limits and fishing regulations

Mackerel

• The daily catch limit, including catch and releases, is 10 mackerel for any person fishing in Forillon National  Park’s coastal waters.
• At all times, it is forbidden to have more than 10 mackerel in one’s possession.
• At all times, it is forbidden to be in possession of mackerel less than 26.8 cm in length.
• Each fisher may use no more than one fishing line with a single or triple hook.

Striped bass

• The daily catch limit, including catch and release, is three striped bass for anyone fishing in the coastal waters of Forillon National Park.
• At all times, it is forbidden to be in possession of more than three striped bass.
• At all times, it is forbidden to be in possession of striped bass that are not between 50 and 65 cm in length, inclusively.
• Each angler must fish for striped bass using a hook or a combination of hooks, without natural bait, with only one hook on each shaft, for a maximum of three hooks on a line.

If you wish to fish for a saltwater fish species other than mackerel and striped bass, make sure you know and comply with the applicable federal or provincial regulations:

If you are unsure of the species you have just caught, be vigilant and release it.
