Parks Canada is working to increase accessibility so all visitors have the opportunity to enjoy Canada's natural and cultural heritage.

Here are experiences for visitors with diverse abilities, tastes and accessibility considerations.

Support person

Forillon Park allows the support person of a person with a disability or incapacity to be exempt from paying admission fees. To qualify, the person requiring a support person must present a valid card issued by a recognised institution or organisation on each visit.

Service animals

Service animals are allowed throughout Forillon Park. They must be clearly identified and kept on a leash or harness at all times.

The Visitor Information and Discovery Centre is the perfect place for a first contact with the park! In addition to the exhibition and the Parks Canada boutique, visitors will also find a range of services including a food service, a laundry room and a terrace near the harbour.

Picnic shelter

This loop trail enters a leafy wood, leads down to the sea, skirts the gravel at the top of the beach and returns near the Visitor Information and Discovery Centre.

Visitor Information and Discovery Centre

Walk along the sea on the Du Banc trail and admire the magnificent Forillon cliffs in the background. Set off from the harbour, next to the visitor centre, or from the car park at the entrance to the village of Cap-des-Rosiers. Take a break halfway along the route at the Irish Monument, erected in memory of those shipwrecked on the Carricks.

Wheelchair bicycle (GRIT)

The wheelchair bicycle (GRIT) is available to rent for free to people with reduced mobility wishing to enjoy the Du Banc trail. It is a wheelchair where the two wheels are pulled independently with mountain bike chains. This system provides more power to climb the slopes and also allows you to pick up speed, in a very safe way.

The Penouille sand spit has a mosaic of rich and diverse habitats that are different from the rest of the park area.

You can borrow an adapted electric cart free of charge to access the beach, the trail and the tip of Penouille more easily. It is accessible to people in a wheelchair and to people with reduced mobility to help cross the 10% starting slope safely.

A Mobi-chair is available to borrow free of charge for people with reduced mobility wishing to enjoy Penouille beach. It allows users to bathe, as its large wheels and armrests act as floats, providing excellent stability in the water. Reservations recommended.

Mobi-chair

A universal access mat (Mobi-mat) facilitates access to the beach by providing a firm surface for approaching the sea. It can be practical for wheelchairs, walkers and pushchairs. It is permanently installed for the summer and anyone can use it free of charge.

The recreation centre offers many services in Petit-Gaspé: heated pool, outdoor children’s playground, tennis court, convenience store and free Wi-Fi.

Les personnes à mobilité réduite peuvent emprunter une marchette aquatique ou un fauteuil roulant aquatique (Mac). En plus de faciliter l'entrée des utilisateurs dans l'eau, ils peuvent être utilisés au vestiaire, sous la douche et dans la piscine. Le fauteuil roulant aquatique n’est pas conçu pour flotter, mais d’autres équipements de flottaison individuels sont disponibles (VFI, ceinture de flottaison, etc.). La piscine dispose également d'une rampe d'accès.

Halfway between the tent and the rustic cabin, the oTENTik tent welcomes you in the comfort of nature. It’s the perfect opportunity for families or friends to enjoy a hassle-free camping experience.

Camping Des-Rosiers, located near the harbour and beach at Cap-des-Rosiers, offers a variety of campsites with or without services (water and electricity) as well as original accommodation such as oTENTik tents. Near the beach, children can enjoy a playground with one of the most beautiful views in the world!
