Where has this pesky space-time continuum brought you now?! Is that a little building over by the water?

Walk along the snowy path to the old stone walls. This is Cape Merry Battery. This battery and the Prince of Wales Fort across the river worked together to guard the mouth of the Churchill River.

The Churchill River was one of the main entrances to Manitoba. Before flying or driving, folks arrived here by boat! (This was the 1700s.) The British actually rebuilt the battery because their first try aimed the weapons right at the Prince of Wales Fort itself! Oops!
