Entry and service fees are charged at most national parks and national historic sites, where revenues are kept to support visitor services and facilities. This means that every time you visit a park or site you are investing in its future — and in a legacy for future generations.

The following definitions apply to entry and service fee categories unless otherwise specified

Adult - Person 18 to 64 years of age
Senior - Person 65 years of age or over
Youth - Person 3 to 17 years of age
Child - Person under 3 years of age
Family - four people from the same family. Maximum 2 people 18 years and older.

2024 Hot Springs fee adjustments

Under the Service Fees Act, Parks Canada, among other federal departments and agencies, is required to automatically adjust its fees to accommodate inflation.

Entry fees for the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs will increase on January 2, 2024.

What do you need to know:

  • In 2020, Parks Canada began a cycle of adjusting fees, every two years, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
  • The next CPI increase of 4.1% is scheduled for January 1, 2024 and will apply to all Parks Canada fees, including those at the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs.
  • The increase represents an increase of $1.00 per single entry adult, youth, or senior admission to the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs.
  • In 2023, following an 18-year price freeze, entry fees for the Canadian Rockies Hot Springs were adjusted to better recover operating, repair and maintenance costs. This one-time fee adjustment was separate from CPI increases and brought prices in line with market rates. The adjustment was informed by a 2019 Parks Canada public and stakeholder consultation on fees.
  • Revenue from the entry fees collected at Radium, Miette, and Banff Upper Hot Springs is used to cover operating, maintenance, and capital repair costs required to ensure the long-term operation of the hot springs for current and future generations to enjoy.
  • Discounted multi-entry products including punch passes, annual passes, and booklets of ten entries are the most economical way to visit the hot springs. These products may be purchased in 2023 at the current rates to save into 2024.
  • All visitors require a park pass (day pass or Parks Canada Discovery Pass) when stopping to use amenities, services, and facilities within a national park. Canadian Rockies Hot Springs facilities are all located within National parks; a national park pass is required when visiting.

Free admission for youth 17 and under

As of January 1, 2018, admission to national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas for youth 17 and under is free! Youth entry fees to Banff Upper Hot Springs still apply.

What is free?

Admission to all national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada will be provided free of charge.

Free admission for youth only applies to places managed by Parks Canada. It does not apply to provincial parks, territorial parks, municipal and private parks, nor to the many historic sites not managed by Parks Canada.

Please refer to the full list of Parks Canada places before you plan your visit to take advantage of free admission for youth.

What is not free?

Parks Canada is pleased to offer free admission for youth at our parks and sites, however regular fees still apply for other experiences and services, such as:

  • Camping, backcountry and other accommodations
  • Canadian Rockies Hot Springs
  • Northern Park Backcountry Camping and Excursion Permit
  • Lockage
  • Mooring
  • Reservation fees
  • Guided tours and hikes and programs not usually included with admission
  • Some special event fees
  • Firewood
  • Backcountry overnight use
