Day 1

Location: Fort St. Joseph National Historic Site, Hilton Beach
Distance: 270 km from Sudbury

From the ruins of a British fort to sheltered coves and spectacular trails, explore rugged shorelines and beautiful forests as you discover why these lakes are so ‘great’! Spend the afternoon amongst the ruins of this historic fort. Let a Parks Canada guide show you the fascinating history of the grounds, then hike a short trail to admire the beauty of Lake Huron.

Day 2

Location: Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, Rossport
Distance: 580 km from Sault Ste. Marie

Take time to enjoy the spectacular views as you travel along the coast of Lake Superior. Once you arrive in Rossport, enjoy hiking along that same stunning coastline. Get out on the water and discover the sheltered islands of Rossport. Paddle through the coves, bays and inlets of Lake Superior for an unforgettable experience.

Day 3

Location: Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area

Get ready for a treasure hunt! Use your smartphone to find the 3 hidden geocaches along the scenic trails of Lake Superior’s northern shores. Don’t forget to bring a pencil to sign the logbook and leave your mark!

Join a local boat tour and enjoy an afternoon on the lake, as you learn about the history and wildlife of the area.

Day 4

Location: Pukaskwa National Park

Keep the treasure hunt going and see if you can find the 7 geocaches hidden around the park! When you’re done, take some time to share your achievements and pictures! Join a park interpreter at the Anishinaabe camp and learn more about the strong connection the local Indigenous peoples have with the land and water in this area.

Day 5

Location: Pukaskwa National Park

Follow the Beach Trail on your way to explore Horseshoe Beach. Spend the day relaxing in the sand or enjoying the crystal clear waters. Up for an adventure? Rent a canoe, or bring your own, and explore Hattie Cove from the water. Keep an eye out and with a little luck you’ll be able to spot some of the animals that call Lake Superior home.

Day 6

Location: Pukaskwa National Park

Pack a lunch, and head out for a day on the first leg of the famous Coastal Hiking Trail! Enjoy the spectacular views as you make the 18 km round-trip hike to the White River Suspension Bridge. Stroll through boreal forest, follow the boardwalk over wetlands and trek across the rocky surface of the Canadian Shield.

Day 7

Location: Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site, Sault Ste. Marie
Distance: 425 km from Pukaskwa

Marvel at the impressive sight of the world’s first electrically powered lock. Tour the historic buildings or watch boats pass through. Explore South St. Marys Island on foot or by bike and take in the beautiful landscapes found within the heart of Sault Ste. Marie.


Distance: Return to Sudbury, 310 km
