Stargazing
Fort Beauséjour – Fort Cumberland National Historic Site
Are you an avid stargazer or simply enjoy the tranquility and awe of looking up into the night sky? Fort Beauséjour-Fort Cumberland National Historic Site is an exceptional place for evening stargazing.
You don't need much to enjoy the Milky Way and the illuminated sky on a clear evening. You can stargaze with the naked eye, with your binoculars, or with your telescope.
Tips for observing the night sky
- Avoid unnatural light: To avoid light pollution and to get your eyes used to observing the sky, choose a location where you will not be affected by car lights or other lights. Once you have chosen a place, turn your flashlight and your phone screen off and wait a few minutes for your eyes to get used to the darkness. Take advantage of our exceptional, year-round location to observe the starry sky.
- Bring mosquito repellent and dress accordingly: The breeze is always strong at Fort Beauséjour-Fort Cumberland. We recommend checking the weather before you go and bringing appropriate clothing for your visit. Mosquitoes will also be present, so if you are sensitive to them, we recommend that you apply mosquito repellent to make the most of your stargazing experience.
