Important information about your visit to Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site

Starting June 1, 2020, Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site is offering limited visitor access and basic services.

Visiting Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site will be different than it has been in the past. Therefore, we’re asking visitors to plan ahead by checking what’s open, what to expect and how to prepare for a safe and pleasant visit.

  • Grounds

  • Visitor Centre and public washrooms
  • Tower interior Restoration work
Your safety when visiting
  • Visitors are always responsible for their own safety. Anyone participating in recreational activities should be extra cautious to avoid injury and/or getting lost to help minimize the demands placed on search and rescue teams and on the health care system.
  • Always keep your pet on a leash and leave no trace.
  • Visitors must respect all closures and signage.
  • Capacity of the Visitor Centre is restricted to 5 visitors OR 1 household bubble (maximum 7 visitors).
  • Use of a non-medical mask is required inside the Visitor Center when a distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained from other visitors and site staff.
  • Due to the interactive nature of the exhibit galleries, certain high-touch activities are not available.
  • There is reduced access to the grounds at Carleton Martello Tower due to the current restoration work.
