White Glove Tour
Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site
The telephone, the airplane, the hydrofoil – the story of Bell’s involvement in these innovative works is featured prominently throughout the site.
However, if you’re curious about the personal life of one of the world’s greatest inventors, take a behind-the-scenes look on our White Glove Tour.
A small group of participants will be taken to the White Glove Room. This small room is accessible through a series of ramps. Here they’ll be offered a rare look into the often overshadowed personal lives of Alexander Graham Bell and his loving wife Mabel. Items can be handled and are verbally described by the guide.
See how artifacts, including Bell’s favourite jacket, a personal notebook, and a walking stick with an interesting backstory, are conserved for future generations.
Hear how Parks Canada has continued to protect and preserve the stories and objects that Bell himself felt were essential to an understanding of his life.
Come hold history in the palm of your hand!

With a passionate guide leading your journey, the White Glove Tour offers an intimate, personal glimpse of a public genius. On this unique, behind-the-scenes tour you’ll hold Alexander Graham Bell's personal mementos and models.
Together, your small group will enter the White Glove Room, a small room accessible via a series of ramps, and examine Bell’s comfort items: his favourite jacket, walking stick and personal notebook. Artifacts can be delicately handled and verbally described by the guide. You’ll follow the love story between "Alec" and Mabel Bell, the woman for whom the telephone was invented.
