Hamlet Bridge to Close Overnight for Repair

Issued: August 13, 2020

August 13, 2020, Peterborough, ON – Parks Canada would like to advise that the Hamlet Bridge on the Severn River will close to vehicular traffic overnight the week of August 17, through to August 24, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The Hamlet Bridge is located at Peninsula Point Road and Canning Road 49, between the Townships of Severn and Gravenhurst. Emergency services will be notified. Motorists are asked to plan their routes accordingly.

As a part of an historic investment program along the Trent-Severn Waterway, Parks Canada replaced both the fixed and swing portions of the Hamlet Bridge on the Severn River, as well as the road abutments, the east pier, mechanical and electrical systems, and the bridge operator’s building. This road closure is associated with work to replace a deficient part under warranty.
