Invasive alien species - irritating species

Not all alien species are threatening. However, some can cause significant ecological, economic or environmental damage. They are then called "invasive".

Wild parsnip, ragweed, poison ivy and valerian are among the main invasive exotic species observed at the Chambly Canal National Historic Site. Wherever possible, management activities are carried out to control their spread. Getting rid of some species is particularly difficult and can take several years.
