Walking tour assisted by guides

Start your guided walking tour at the visitor centre, where a scale model of Coteau-du-Lac's fortified canal awaits you. You can also make a stop at the belvedere for a unique view of the historic site.
Continue outside to explore the military remains, the lock canal (the first in North America!) and the rigolet canal. Don't miss the blockhouse, a replica of a British military building built for the War of 1812.
End your visit with a moment of relaxation on a bench in the wooded area along the river.
Above all, don't hesitate to ask questions and interact with the guides on site.

Uniform demonstration

Watch a guide demonstrate British artillery and infantry uniforms. Visitors can also dress up and take photos. Children's costumes are also available.

Parks Canada Xplorers program

Parks Canada Xplorers - Time to Explore!

The Xplorers program is dedicated for children aged 6 to 11 visiting Parks Canada sites with their families. At Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site, the Xplorers booklet takes the children on a hunt for clues. Memorize the clues and find the secret password to earn a reward. Good luck!

New activity

Xplorers by bike

A mom, dad and their child cycle along a bike path on a beautiful summer's day.

This special Xplorers tour is a family bike rally. Head to the Coteau-du-Lac National Historic Site to pick up your booklet and explorer's gear, and get ready to explore the history of the navigators along the Soulanges Canal. An original way for young and old to learn more about the canal, while enjoying a fun family bike ride!

*Bikes are not provided, you must bring your own.
