Guided tour of the stone fort

A Parks Canada's female guide gives a detailed explanation of the stone fort during a group tour of Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

Let the guide take your group on an outdoor tour of the fortifications.

You'll learn why a fort was built in Chambly in 1711, what are the particularities of the fortification and its main defensive elements.

Themes: history and military architecture

Audience: adult group of 20 people or more. This can be a family group, a group of friends, a social club, a group of employees, etc.

Length: 60 minutes

Uniform demonstration

Parks Canada's female and male guides give detailed explanations of a soldier's military uniform during a group activity at Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

You'll have the chance to dress up as a French soldier!

Learn more about the characteristics of military attire, as well as antique rifles and their special features.

Introductory tour and uniform demonstration

Three students, two women and one man, from a French-language class listen attentively to a guide during a group activity at Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

Suggested content: the guide introduces students to the site's history and the fort's construction, followed by a military uniform demonstration. This presentation becomes a pretext for vocabulary and conversation practice between the guide and the students.

The group is then free to take a self-guided tour of the exhibitions and the various halls of Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

Audience: intermediate and advanced French learning groups

Capacity: two (2) groups of 20 to 25 people each

Period: April to October

Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm

Length: 60 to 75 minutes

Language offered: French only

Personalized tour for day camp groups

Young boys walk outside on a beautiful summer's day as part of a day camp group activity offered at Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

The team at Fort Chambly National Historic Site can tailor a program and visit to suit the size of your day camp group and the duration of the activity.

Important information Fort Chambly National Historic Site does not offer a day camp program, but rather welcomes day camp groups for an adapted tour of half a day or less.

Audience: day camp groups

Period: June to August

Length: half a day or less

Languages offered: English and French
