Fort Chambly National Historic Site
On-site activity
School Program: “Defending History” guided tour
Suggested content: students will learn more about the history of this authentic fortification and its strategic position.
- A circuit of four animated activities with an optional extra outdoor rally
- Presentation of the seigneurial system
- Observation and manipulation of artifacts left by human groups who have frequented or occupied the site over time
- Presentation of the daily life of garrisoned soldiers during New France
- Presentation of the stone and wooden forts
- Explanation of the strategic position on the banks of the Richelieu River
Target groups: grades 3 and 4 of elementary school
Languages: English and French
Length of visit: 2 hours or 3 hours (with the extra outdoor rally)
Location: 2, rue de Richelieu, Chambly, QC J3L 2B9
Period: April to June and September to October

Pre-tour preparation (optional):
