Fort Chambly National Historic Site

Fort Chambly National Historic Site is an emblematic site and a cultural jewel of the Montérégie region. It's the perfect place to hold an event in a uniquely charming setting.

Cultural, sporting, community or private activities and events can be held from mid-May to mid-October. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available under certain conditions.

Indoor and outdoor spaces available for rental

Choose one or a combination of indoor or outdoor spaces depending on your needs:

 

The Jacques-de-Chambly hall (indoor space)

This historic hall is extremely versatile, and can be adapted to suit the needs of the tenant. The open-air courtyard (outdoor space) adjacent to the hall provides both indoor and outdoor event space, if desired.

Amenities and furniture provided with space rental:

  • 5 rectangular solid wood tables, 8 ft. x 33 in. (243.8 cm x 83.8 cm)
  • 30 banquet chairs
  • A 70 in. (177.8 cm) screen with built-in projector that is compatible with both PC and Mac for broadcasting audiovisual material (no technical support provided - standalone use only)
  • Easels
  • Coat racks on wheels, available upon request
  • Access to a professional kitchen, for autonomous use only, including:
    • 1 sliding-door refrigerator
    • 1 double sink
    • 1 industrial convection oven
    • 1 coffee machine
    • Stainless steel countertops
  • Access to the fort's indoor restrooms

Space dimensions: 90 ft. x 18 ft. (27.4 m x 5.5 m) - Ceiling height: 8 ft. (2.4 m)

Surface area: 1,600 ft2 (148.6 m2)

Maximum capacity: 100 people, depending on the nature of the event and the room configuration desired

 

The open courtyard (outdoor space)

This distinctive outdoor space offers privacy and can accommodate large groups. Moreover, the arcades serve as a magnificent backdrop for photos or to create themed spaces, as required.

Amenities and furniture provided with space rental:

  • No outdoor furniture provided except picnic tables, but possibility of setting up furniture and/or a big top, if desired and at the tenant's expense
  • Possibility of illuminating the arcades in the open courtyard with mood lighting at dusk
  • Access to an electrical panel 100 A
  • Access to a professional kitchen, for autonomous use only, including:
    • 1 sliding-door refrigerator
    • 1 double sink
    • 1 industrial convection oven
    • 1 coffee machine
    • Stainless steel countertops
  • Access to the fort's indoor restrooms

Space dimensions: 101 ft. x 104 ft. (30.8 m x 31.7 m)

Surface area: 10,900 ft2 (1,012.6 m2)

Maximum capacity: 300 people, depending on the weather and the nature of the event (open-air space with no roof)

 

The park (outdoor space)

Although the park is a public space, it is administered by Parks Canada, and therefore it is mandatory to apply for a permit in order to hold an event of any type (large or small scale). See the Contact and request for the use of sites at Parks Canada section below.

This large, partially shaded park, with its many picnic tables, is a prime location for challenges, craft fairs, sports activities and other small-scale events, and offers a breathtaking view of the Richelieu River.

Surface area: 516,667.7 ft2 (48,000 m2). Zones are delimited according to the nature of the event and the needs of the tenant.

  • Access to indoor restrooms in the fort or guardhouse
 

The guardhouse (indoor space)

This hall, located some 300 m (984.3 ft.) from the fortification, is ideal for small-scale indoor events.

Surface area: 1,806 ft2 (167.8 m2)

Maximum capacity: 90 people, depending on the nature of the event and the room configuration desired

Amenities and furniture provided with space rental:

  • 130 banquet chairs
  • Easels
  • Coat racks on wheels, available upon request
  • Access to the guardhouse's indoor restrooms
 

Other important information

  • Located 30 minutes from Montreal, close to major highways (Autoroutes 10, 15 and 30).
  • On-site paid parking with around 100 spaces for cars, coaches and buses
  • City parking nearby
  • Catering at the tenant's choice and expense
  • Full access for people with disabilities or reduced mobility
  • No Wi-Fi on site, but wired Internet connection available indoors only, and mobile network accessible
  • Possibility of renting two or more spaces at the same time, but only one event per selected date
  • Exclusive access to exhibitions after the national historic site's closing time, available upon request and subject to extra fees
  • Historical animation services available, available upon request and subject to extra fees

Dates, rental hours and fees

Dates: mid-May to end of December

Rental hours: 8:30 am to midnight. All event guests must have left by midnigh.

Fees: available upon request. See Contact and request for the use of sites at Parks Canada.

Fees include basic amenities and furniture, as well as handling fees for furniture provided by Fort Chambly National Historic Site.

Historical animation services and access to exhibitions are available upon request and subject to extra fees.
