FORTIFICATIONS OF QUEBEC NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Duration: 90 minutes
Location: Outdoor guided tour and educational workshop (alternate location in case of rain)
Description : On the way to the Esplanade Park, students will be introduced to soldier life. They will visit the barracks first, and then become apprentice experts of Québec’s defensive system and will be able to identify the various components of the fortifications. SAINT-LOUIS FORTS AND CHÂTEAUX NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Duration: 90 minutes
Location: Outdoor guided tour and indoor educational activity
Description : On the way to Dufferin Terrace, students will discover unique viewpoints that will help them understand the historical and military importance of Québec. They will also learn about the diplomatic activities of the French and British governors who lived in the Château Saint-Louis. Retrace more than 200 years of diplomatic history with the First Nations from relations with the Huron-Wendat Nation, learn more about the governors and Huron-Wendat diplomats, and find out about the alliances between these nations at the very place where decisions that left their mark on North America were made. Q: What are the conditions for visiting the Citadelle of Québec and the Governor General’s residence?
A: The Citadelle is an active military base as well as the Governor General’s residence. Tours may therefore be shortened or cancelled due to official ceremonies. Please take note that largebags and backpacks are not allowed inside the Governor General’s residence.

Q: Is the tour offered in case of rain?
A: The proposed activities take place indoors and outdoors. Tours take place during rain or shine. Make sure you bring weather appropriate clothing. The activity may be subject to change.

Q: How are the prices for this package broken down and what do they cover?
A: The rate for youth under 18 years old will be $14 taxes included per person. La Citadelle has modified its pricing policy, a minimum rate for 15 students is now applied. One accompanying adult per 10 students is free. Adults exceeding this ratio will be charged $6 per person for up to 6 accompanying adults. Beyond that number, a fee of $14 will be applied for each accompanying adult added to the group.

Q: Where do the visits included in the package begin and end?
A: If the tour begins at the Citadelle of Québec, the driver is requested to leave visitors at the drop-off area of the Citadelle, located at the top of Côte de la Citadelle. A guide from the Musée Royal 22e Régiment will welcome you there.
For primary groups, the tour will end at the Esplanade Park, near the Esplanade powder magazine (100 St-Louis street).
For secondary groups, the tour will end at the on the Dufferin Terrace. There is a drop-off area next to the Château Frontenac on St-Louis street.

Q: Where are the school bus parking lots near the visited sites?
A: When booking, you will receive more details about the start and end location of the activity. Your visit may start at Parks Canada or at the Citadelle of Québec. After dropping off visitors near the start of the activity, the bus driver may then go to a designated parking lot as seen on this map.

Q: What is the cancellation policy and the associated fees for this package?
A: To avoid penalties, reservations must be canceled within 7 days prior to the visit. The cancellation must be made directly with Andréanne Bolduc at Parks Canada (by email or at 418-648-7016). A penalty of $100 will be billed if the cancellation takes place less than 7 days before the visit.

Q: How long before the visit should we be arriving?
A: The group should arrive on site 10 minutes before the scheduled time of the tour. Please take note that the first tour will be shortened if you arrive late.

Q: What are the forms of payment accepted ?
A: Payments can be made on site the day of the visit. Otherwise, you will receive an invoice taking into account the actual number of participants and the payment can be made later by credit card or check (Billing).

Q: What does the dining area look like?
A: The dining area at the Citadelle can accommodate up to 60 people. Groups of more than 60 people will use a room provided by Parks Canada. There is no equipment for heating meals in the dining rooms. Please plan a cold lunch.
