Guided tours for the general public
Enjoy this immersive experience that delves into the heart of regional history! The tour offers a captivating journey through the various perspectives of the communities that frequented the fort, including the Algonquin people, fort staff, and intrepid travelers.
Learn more about the Indigenous presence that spans six millennia on the site and gain insight into intense rivalries among fur traders that animated this former trading post for 300 years. Discover daily life at the fort including the vegetable garden, and even the bread oven and be mesmerized by the natural beauty that surrounds it, by exploring the pebble beach, the lake. Our experienced guides will transport you through different slices of life across time. Don’t miss it!

Self-guided tour of the 14 outdoor historical scenes of life
Stroll around the site and discover 14 stations featuring the lives of trading post characters.
You are in the very place where trappers came to sell the fruits of their labours to merchants and traders who would ship them on to Europe.
Explore further with the enchanted forest, so named for its trees twisted into strange shapes by strong winds, will give you the impression of having been parachuted in from another world.

Parks Canada Xplorers program
The Xplorers program is dedicated for children aged 6 to 11 visiting Parks Canada sites with their families. At Obadjiwan–Fort Témiscamingue National Historic Site, the Xplorers booklet takes the children on a hunt for clues. Memorize the clues and find the secret password to earn a reward. Good luck!

The film “The Voyageurs”
Filmed in 1964 by the National Film Board of Canada, this documentary is being shown in the multi-purpose room. It tells the story of simple, spirited men who set off to reach the West. In service of companies with a hunger for fur, they push their incursions farther and farther into the Pacific Ocean.
